I am searching for information about the family of my ancestor, John D. Cherry, who was born in Warrick, Orange Co., NY December 14, 1823,……He married Rachel Y. ? b. October 12, 1824, in Chester Falls, NY, on March 7, 1845, in Middletown and they moved to Pennsylvania and then on to Rockford, Winnebago Co., Illinois. They had five children; James Leonard b. Nov. 4, 1848 in Butler, NY(?), Betsy Ann b. Mar. 28, 1851 in Newton Twp., Luzerne Co., Pa., Julia Henrietta b. Jan 22, 1854 in Ill., Caroline Marietta b. Jan. 4, 1857 in Ill., Mary b. May 19, 1860, in Ill…Rachel died Sept 3, 1861 and John D. went away to the Civil War and died April 9, 1863, from wounds suffered in the war. John D. is buried in St. Louis Missouri… The surviving children were raised by the Robert S. Spink and Eli Eddy families in Winnebago, Illinois… Thank you for anything you can find on this family!!
